Queen Elizabeth
Remembering the life of Queen Elizabeth II

On Thursday 8th September 2022, Buckingham Palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She was 96 years of age, and died peacefully at Balmoral Castle, surrounded by family.  She served for 70 years, our longest-reigning monarch. Her life included the Second World War and countless others wars, fifteen Prime Ministers, dramatic changes to the way we live, communicate and travel, significant changes to the balance of global power and, more recently, the global pandemic.  Few remember a time when she wasn't Queen. For many of us, her death reminds us of those we too have lost - a parent, a grandparent... No wonder, as nations and as subjects, we are moved by the death of Queen Elizabeth II.  This Sunday, 11th September, our services at both 10.30 am and 6.00 pm, will create space for reflection and prayer.

A call

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for Kings (& Queens) and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.  1 Timothy 2:1-2

A prayer

King of Kings, we give You thanks today for the life and faith of Your servant, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As countless people remember her life and legacy, may we be inspired anew to live for You in the service of others for as long as we may live.  Amen
