Why volunteer?

Most of what we do is made possible by our volunteers.
Use your time and God-given talents/ skills to serve others.  There’s joy in service!
Volunteering is a great way to connect with people and feel like you truly belong!
It’s a great way to stay active – in body, mind and spirit.
Of course, you are welcome simply to attend our services. We just think - if you can - it’s better still to participate  - growing community!

Key questions to ask:

  1. What do I enjoy doing?
  2. What am I good at?
  3. What are the current needs?
  4. What fits in with my schedule?
  5. What is God nudging me to do?
  6. Who can I invite to join me?

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need a DBS check?
Depends! Most roles don’t require this. Safeguarding is critically important to us. All who serve with children, young people and/or adults at risk are checked for their suitability (irrespective of how long we’ve known them). This involves:

  • Completing a short form
  • Meeting with a member of the team
  • Providing two references
  • Providing proof of ID
  • Complete a Disclosure & Barring Service [DBS] check

Do I have to be a Church Member to volunteer?
No! Most of our volunteering is open to all (but do check out Church Membership!) The exceptions include Pastoral Visitors and elected leadership positions eg Deacon.

What does Chester Road Baptist Church believe about gender equality?
Chester Road Baptist Church settled the question of women’s ministry way back in February 1929. All ministry and leadership positions are open to all, men and women. No small print.
